Electricity dept gets ‘A’ in Centre’s rating
Panaji: The Goa electricity department was elevated from category B+ to category A in the 13th annual integrated ratings & ranking for power distribution utilities announced by the Union ministry of power. Last year, the state power department was elevated from the B to B+ category. A total of 72 govt utilities and power departments were evaluated in the exercise.
There are only 11 power distribution companies (DISCOMS) in the A+ category and another 11 DISCOMS in the A category. They are ranked based on parameters such as aggregate technical and commercial losses (AT & C losses), billing and collection efficiency, tariff cycle, regulatory assets, etc.
Goa electricity department’s AT & C losses are presently the lowest at 9.3 per cent, and the ACS-ARR gap is Rs 0.5 per unit.
