Delhi Police registered an FIR against AAP MLA and Okhla candidate
Amanatullah Khan for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), news agency ANI reported on Wednesday.
The case has been lodged at Jamia Nagar police station under FIR No. 95/25, invoking sections 223/3/5 of the BNS and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act.
Voting for all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi began on Wednesday morning amid tight security arrangements. Polling started at 7am and will continue till 6pm, election officials said.
Amanatullah Khan is contesting to retain his seat from the Okhla constituency.
The Delhi Police, in coordination with other enforcement agencies, has stepped up surveillance across the city in a bid to ensure fair elections.
According to a senior official, authorities have registered 1,076 cases of MCC violations between January 7 — when the code of conduct came into effect — and February 3, the last day of campaigning. Nearly 34,250 people have been arrested or detained during this period for various violations.

A significant crackdown on narcotics resulted in the seizure of 196.6 kg of drugs worth over Rs 77.9 crore and the arrest of 177 individuals. Cash worth Rs 11.36 crore and 37.39 kg of silver were also recovered.
According to the Delhi Chief Electoral Office (CEO), law enforcement agencies have seized contraband worth over Rs 220 crore in total, including Rs 88 crore worth of drugs, Rs 81 crore in precious metals, and nearly Rs 40 crore in cash.
The CEO’s office revealed that over 7,500 complaints of MCC violations were received through the cVigil app. “Of these, 7,467 complaints have been successfully resolved, with only 32 cases under process,” said a senior official.
Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5, and the results will be declared on February 8. Authorities have intensified vigilance at border checkpoints and increased patrolling to prevent illegal activities, ensuring smooth conduct of the elections.
