Delhi Assembly Session 2025 Highlights: 'We will show you,' Delhi minister to take reporters to Sheesh Mahal

"Those people are having problem, who are scared regarding the CAG report. The drama is to divert people's attention from CAG report and this has been the old habit of AAP. They should have understood from this election that life of drama isn't that long. Their remaining MLAs should focus on working for people and raising their issues and that will help them politically also...it is my advice, the dignity of Delhi Assembly has been spoiled a lot in the last 10 years, people of Delhi were insulted, now they should let this assembly go on and this is the interest of the people of Delhi..," he said.

"The public of Delhi has rejected AAP. The people have given Arvind Kejriwal the punishment for his misdeeds...When the CAG report will be tabled, it will expose him that how he has built a 'Sheeshmahal' and not a residence of people's CM," he said.

"The chief minister's instruction is that all of us should start working towards fulfilling the guarantees made in the Sankalp Patra given to the people of Delhi... I have taken charge of the departments which have been given to me...All the officials have been directed to make an action plan and start working on that...Today, they have been given the guideline that the 100-day action plan is our priority. Fulfilling the guarantees given to the people of Delhi in a timely manner is our goal..," he said.

“CAG report is going to be presented (tomorrow) and it will disclose the corruption done by Arvind Kejriwal and company. We respect the Constitution and its maker,” he said.

"On the first day of the session, the proceedings of the House were completed. The attitude of the opposition was irresponsible. They did not allow their own members to speak... I think this has disregarded the parliamentary system ..," he said.

Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta took the oath as a Member of the Legislative Assembly during the first session of the 8th Legislative Assembly on Monday. The first session of the newly formed Delhi Assembly begins today, scheduled for February 24, 25, and 27. During the session, 14 pending CAG reports on the performance of the previous AAP government will be presented in the House.

CM Rekha Gupta said on Sunday that the previous AAP government had left the state coffers "empty," but assured that the BJP-led government is "committed" to implementing the Rs 2,500-per-month honorarium scheme for eligible women. Speaking at a joint press conference with Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva after a legislative party meeting, Gupta stated that several rounds of discussions had been held with government officials over the past four days since she assumed office.

BJP MLA Harish Khurana criticized AAP for not presenting the report earlier, emphasizing that the new BJP-led government would operate in accordance with constitutional norms. Khurana stated that the first session would begin with the oath-taking of MLAs and the election of the Speaker, followed by the tabling of the CAG report the next day. He asserted that the report should have been presented during the 7th Assembly, as per the rules. However, he assured that moving forward, all actions of the Delhi government would be carried out in adherence to the rules and the Constitution.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to present the Comptroller and Auditor General's (CAG) report in the Delhi assembly on February 25, which allegedly reveals corruption by the former ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), according to BJP MLA Harish Khurana. The report is expected to shed light on various issues including irregularities in excise policy, renovation of former CM's residence, and education policies. The Delhi assembly's first session will begin on February 24, where MLAs will take their oath and elect a new Speaker.

Several BJP leaders, including Vijender Gupta, Mohan Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Kumar Mahawar, Abhay Verma, Anil Kumar Bajpai and Jitendra Mahajan, earlier filed a petition on the issue of placing CAG reports before the assembly. The pending CAG reports pertain to several departments and areas, including Delhi Transport Corporation, public health and mohalla clinics, state PSU, prevention and mitigation of vehicular air pollution in Delhi, appropriation accounts, children in need of care and protection, regulation and supply of liquor in Delhi.

A three-day session of the Delhi assembly will commence on Feb 24 and end on Feb 27. There will be no session on Feb 26 due to Maha Shivratri. A BJP functionary said that the first day of the session would begin with oath-taking by all MLAs and the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker. The next day, Feb 25, there will be an address by LG VK Saxena, after which the pending CAG reports will be tabled, followed by a discussion. The schedule was discussed at the cabinet meeting on Thursday evening. "Gandhi Nagar MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely will serve as the pro tem Speaker to oversee the election of the Speaker," the functionary added. Read more
