Engineering student attacked over love affair in Beed dies, 3 arrested

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 21-year-old engineering student from Gangawadi village in Beed's Georai taluka, died after allegedly being assaulted by relatives of his girlfriend.The youth was beaten up with sticks on July 18 and was taken to a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where he died on Saturday.Manoj Nilangekar, in charge of the Talwada police station, said the youth was in a relationship with a girl who was his distant relative. "The girl's family was against their marriage and had conveyed their displeasure multiple times. The youth was still firm on marrying the girl. It led to heated arguments, followed by assault," Nilangekar said.Talwada police have registered an offence against five people on charges of murder. "The accused include the girl's uncle and other relatives. We have arrested three accused while two are still at large," police said.
