As Americans prepare to vote in one of the country’s most consequential presidential elections, a new national survey of more than 5,000 Americans examines attitudes about the 2024 presidential race, the health of our democracy, and support for political violence. The survey explores and illuminates Americans’ opinions about the direction of the country as well as specific policy concerns when it comes to immigration, the economy, reproductive health, foreign policy, Christian nationalism, and LGBTQ rights. Find out which issues will drive Americans’ votes, and how Americans view Trump and Harris as well as vice presidential nominees Senator J.D. Vance and Governor Tim Walz.

On October 16, Governance Studies at Brookings and the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) hosted the release of their 15th annual American Values Survey with a panel of experts who discussed the survey results and what they revealed about the priorities of Americans as they relate to the 2024 election and beyond.
