Change VoiceOver General settings in VoiceOver Utility on Mac
Use the General category in VoiceOver Utility to display a welcome dialog when VoiceOver starts and to specify a login greeting, use portable preferences, and enable AppleScript scripts to control VoiceOver.
To open VoiceOver Utility, press Command-F5 to turn VoiceOver on, then press VO-Fn-F8.
Note: VO represents the VoiceOver modifier that you press with additional keys to enter VoiceOver commands. By default, you can press Control and Option together or just press Caps Lock.
Option | Description |

Speak the following greeting after login | Enter the text you want VoiceOver to speak when you log in while VoiceOver is on. |
Display welcome dialog when VoiceOver starts | Display the welcome dialog each time VoiceOver is turned on. |
Portable Preferences | VoiceOver indicates whether it detects a portable preferences drive. You can stop or start using a detected drive, or set up a drive. |
Allow VoiceOver to be controlled with AppleScript | Use AppleScript scripts to automate VoiceOver tasks. |
