    Spack

    Spack

A flexible package manager that supports multiple versions

A flexible package manager supporting multiple versions, configurations, platforms, and compilers. Spack is a package manager for supercomputers, Linux, and macOS. It makes installing scientific software easy. Spack isn’t tied to a particular language; you can build a software stack in Python or R, link to libraries written in C, C++, or Fortran, and easily swap compilers or target specific microarchitectures. Spack offers a simple "spec" syntax that allows users to specify versions and configuration options. Package files are written in pure Python, and specs allow package authors to write a single script for many different builds of the same package. With Spack, you can build your software all the ways you want to.

    pipx

    pipx

Install and run Python applications in isolated environments

pipx is a tool to help you install and run end-user applications written in Python. It's roughly similar to macOS's brew, JavaScript's npx, and Linux's apt. It's closely related to pip. In fact, it uses pip, but is focused on installing and managing Python packages that can be run from the command line directly as applications. pip is a general-purpose package installer for both libraries and apps with no environment isolation. pipx is made specifically for application installation, as it adds isolation yet still makes the apps available in your shell: pipx creates an isolated environment for each application and its associated packages. pipx does not ship with pip, but installing it is often an important part of bootstrapping your system. By default, pipx uses the same package index as pip, PyPI. pipx can also install from all other sources pip can, such as a local directory, wheel, git url, etc.

    pnpm

    pnpm

Fast, disk space efficient package manager

Fast, disk space efficient package manager. pnpm uses a content-addressable filesystem to store all files from all module directories on a disk. When using npm, if you have 100 projects using lodash, you will have 100 copies of lodash on disk. With pnpm, lodash will be stored in a content-addressable storage. Files inside node_modules are cloned or hard-linked from a single content-addressable storage. pnpm has built-in support for multiple packages in a repository. pnpm creates a non-flat node_modules by default, so code has no access to arbitrary packages.

    CocoaPods

    CocoaPods

    The Cocoa Dependency Manager

CocoaPods is a dependency manager for Swift and Objective-C Cocoa projects. It has over 82 thousand libraries and is used in over 3 million apps. CocoaPods can help you scale your projects elegantly. CocoaPods is built with Ruby and is installable with the default Ruby available on macOS. We recommend you use the default ruby. Using the default Ruby install can require you to use sudo when installing gems. Further installation instructions are in the guides. CocoaPods manages library dependencies for your Xcode projects. The dependencies for your projects are specified in a single text file called a Podfile. CocoaPods will resolve dependencies between libraries, fetch the resulting source code, then link it together in an Xcode workspace to build your project. Ultimately the goal is to improve discoverability of, and engagement in, third party open-source libraries by creating a more centralised ecosystem.

    Faker for Python

    Faker for Python

Python package that generates fake data for you

Faker is a Python package that generates fake data for you. Whether you need to bootstrap your database, create good-looking XML documents, fill-in your persistence to stress test it, or anonymize data taken from a production service, Faker is for you. Starting from version 4.0.0, Faker dropped support for Python 2 and from version 5.0.0 only supports Python 3.6 and above. If you still need Python 2 compatibility, please install version 3.0.1 in the meantime, and please consider updating your codebase to support Python 3 so you can enjoy the latest features Faker has to offer. Please see the extended docs for more details, especially if you are upgrading from version 2.0.4 and below as there might be breaking changes. This package was also previously called fake-factory which was already deprecated by the end of 2016, and much has changed since then, so please ensure that your project and its dependencies do not depend on the old package.

    JavaPackager

    JavaPackager

Gradle/Maven plugin to package Java applications as native Windows

JavaPackager is a hybrid plugin for Maven and Gradle which provides an easy way to package Java applications in native Windows, MacOS or GNU/Linux executables, and generate installers for them. It was born while teaching to my students how to build and distribute their Java apps, and after seeing that a chain of several plugins was needed to achieve this task, I decided to develop a plugin to rule them all. Apply JavaPackager plugin in build.gradle using legacy mode (because at the moment it's only available in Maven Central repository). When you build your app, all configuration details are hardcoded into the executable and cannot be changed without recreating it or hacking with a resource editor. JavaPackager introduces a feature that allows passing of additional JVM options at runtime from an .l4j.ini file (like Launch4j does, but available for all platforms in the same way).

    Bower

    Bower

A package manager for the web

Bower offers generic, unopinionated front-end package management. It manages all the packages you need for a website, making sure they are all up-to-date and in the specific versions that you need. Bower can manage components that contain HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts or even image files. There’s no concatenating, minifying code or anything else - it just installs the right versions of the packages you need and their dependencies. How you use your packages will then be entirely up to you. Bower runs over Git and is package-agnostic, which means that a packaged component can be made up of any type of asset, and use any type of transport.

    Dep

    Dep

    Go dependency management tool experiment

Dep was an official experiment to implement a package manager for Go. While dep has many discrete components and moving parts, all of these parts revolve around a central model. Dep is a tool intended primarily for use by developers, to support the work of actually writing and shipping code. It is not intended for end users who are installing Go software - that's what go get does. It is strongly recommended that you use a released version of dep. While tip is never purposefully broken, its stability is not guaranteed. Note that dep requires a functioning Go workspace and GOPATH. Dep is centered around the idea of the "four state system" - a model for classifying and organizing the on-disk state with which a package manager interacts. This was first articulated as a coherent, general model in this (long) article, though many of the principles in the four state model were derived from existing package managers.

    Electron Packager

    Electron Packager

Customize and package your Electron app with OS-specific bundles

Electron Packager is a command line tool and Node.js library that bundles Electron-based application source code with a renamed Electron executable and supporting files into folders ready for distribution. For creating distributables like installers and Linux packages, consider using either Electron Forge (which uses Electron Packager internally), or one of the related Electron tools, which utilizes Electron Packager-created folders as a basis. Note that packaged Electron applications can be relatively large. A zipped, minimal Electron application is approximately the same size as the zipped prebuilt binary for a given target platform, target arch, and Electron version (files named electron-v${version}-${platform}-${arch}.zip). Building an Electron app for the Windows target platform requires editing the Electron.exe file. Currently, Electron Packager uses node-rcedit to accomplish this.

    Thanks

    Thanks

Give thanks to your fellow PHP package maintainers

Give thanks (in the form of a GitHub ★ ) to your fellow PHP package maintainers (not limited to Symfony components)! Install this as any other (dev) Composer package. You can also install it once for all your local projects. This will find all of your Composer dependencies, find their Github repository, and star their GitHub repositories. This was inspired by cargo thanks, which was inspired in part by Medium's clapping button as a way to show thanks for someone else's work you've found enjoyment in. If you're wondering why did some dependencies get thanked and not others, the answer is that this plugin only supports Github at the moment. Pull requests are welcome to add support for thanking packages hosted on other services. Package authors can send a star to another package that they would like to thank.

Its original purpose is as an AUR helper, in that it automates the process of installing packages from the Arch User Repositories. It is, however, capable of much more. Aura doesn't just mimic pacman; it is pacman. All pacman operations and their sub-options are allowed. Some even hold special meaning in Aura as well. -S yields pacman packages and only pacman packages. This agrees with the above. In Aura, the -A operation is introduced for obtaining AUR packages. -A comes with sub-options you're used to (-u, -s, -i, etc.). PKGBUILDs from the AUR can contain anything. It's a user's responsibility to verify the contents of a PKGBUILD before building, but people can make mistakes and overlook details.
