Among his many credits are the Golden Globe Award nominated scores for the Michael Mann films ‘The Insider’ (1999) and ‘Ali’ (2000) which were co-composed with Lisa Gerrard. Bourke and Gerrard released a collaborative album ‘Duality’ (1998). Pieter's catalogue reflects an ability to compose evocative music and nuanced cinematic soundscapes which blend powerful rhythms and traditional instrumentation with deftly textured electronics and ambient atmospheres. Bourke formed the ethno-electronic group Soma with David Thrussell. Pieter is also a founding member of dub/reggae outfit Secret Masters.
