Celebrating International Women’s Day with Purpose! Last Saturday, I joined around 1,000 participants on a 2km morning walk from Gardens by the Bay to NTUC Centre, marking National Trades Union Congress (NTUC)‘a commitment to supporting women and caregivers. At the walk, I announced that the NTUC Care Fund (Caregiver Support) will be ready for applications in mid-April. With $5.4 million set aside over the next three years, this initiative will benefit over 4,000 lower-income families with (i) single caregivers with children and elderly dependents, and (ii) caregivers of children with special needs. Take Madam Noor Noorfarahin Ahmad, a former civil servant and former Vice Chairperson of the NTUC Women's Committee. As the sole caregiver of her bedridden 81-year-old father with severe dementia and her nine-year-old son, she left her job late last year and has been relying on her savings in order to better manage her responsibilities for them. The launch of this new programme will soon provide her with some relief to augment her own savings. Balancing caregiving and work is no easy feat. NTUC has been working to address these challenges for more than a decade and we hope this latest initiative can empower more women and caregivers as we build a more caring and inclusive society together. #EveryWorkerMatters #NTUCCares

At the MOM Committee of Supply (COS) 2025, NTUC’s Melvin Yong, Yeo Wan Ling, and Jean See called on the Government to allocate more support for workplace safety. They emphasised the need to sustain tripartite efforts on workplace safety and mental well-being, as well as improve work conditions for creative freelancers. Blessed Ramadan to all! 🌙 I recently gathered with NTUC Malay-Muslim beneficiaries, Union Leaders, Community Partners, and FairPrice Group to buka puasa together. At the event, I met Mr. Mohamad Taufik, a 55-year-old seasoned IT professional. After leaving his previous job, Brother Taufik transited to becoming a private-hire driver due to difficulties in finding a new job. With the guidance and support from FA4, a M³ taskforce focused on employability, Taufik is currently upskilling through an Associate Data Analyst course at NTUC LearningHub, aiming to grasp better opportunities as he makes a mid-career shift. We will continue to support his journey. To all professionals, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) stands alongside you to achieve better wages, welfare, and work prospects because #EveryWorkerMatters! Wishing everyone a blessed month of #Ramadan.

Back on the tarmac and in the hangars—felt like a homecoming! It was a great visit to SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC), where I met engineers, technicians, and officers who are working hard as the industry makes a strong comeback. SIAEC isn’t standing still—they’re transforming. From continuous improvement in operations to investing in employee upskilling, they are enhancing processes and fostering a culture of growth. With International Women's Day around the corner, it was especially inspiring to meet Sister Shirdeen Chow, who started as an Aircraft Maintenance License Trainee and worked her way up to become an Operations Manager. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, her journey of continuous learning, adaptability, and leadership is a powerful reminder that skills and perseverance can break barriers. Glad to see SIASU, SEEU, and AESU working alongside SIAEC to support workers on this transformation journey. As the industry speeds up post-COVID, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) is here to make sure workers—including the women trailblazing in their fields—have what they need to fly higher—today, tomorrow, and beyond. ✈️ #EveryWorkerMatters
