🌏 Pioneering Green Ammonia Combustion in Southeast Asia On February 26th,PT PLN Indonesia Power, PT Pupuk Kujang, and IHI Corporation successfully conducted ammonia firing tests at the Labuan coal-fired power plant, owned by PT PLN Indonesia Power. This milestone demonstration utilized green ammonia produced from clean energy sources, making it the first initiative in Southeast Asia to use green #ammonia in commercial power generation facilities. IHI oversaw the technical studies for this project, including modifications to the power plant, demonstrating practical methods to achieve carbon neutrality in #ASEAN countries and promoting a global transition to sustainable energy. ~ IHI awarded Contract for Steel Composite Modules Mock Up related to NuScale SMR Project in Romania~ IHI Corporation was recently awarded a contract to fabricate a mock up of a steel composite modules for the reactor building side walls of NuScale Power Modules (NPM) Small Modular Reactor (Service) from Samsung C&T Corporation as a part of Samsung C&T’s scope of work of *FEED Phase 2 for the Romania SMR Project utilizing NuScale Power Corporation technology at a former coal fired power plant site in Doicesti, Romania. The mock-fabrication will be conducted at IHI's Yokohama plant, with completion expected by April 2025. IHI aims to continue contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society through its experience and technology in nuclear power plants, including SMR. *FEED (Front-end Engineering and Design) is the basic engineering work conducted after a feasibility study and is the precursor to EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction). It primarily involves accurate investment cost evaluation, the development of project execution plans, and preparations for selecting major suppliers. 🚀 Congratulations on the Successful Launch of the 5th H3 Launch Vehicle with "Michibiki No. 6 Satellite"! 🚀 Yesterday, JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency successfully launched "Michibiki No. 6" aboard the 5th H3 Launch Vehicle from the Tanegashima Space Center! At IHI Corporation, we played a crucial role in the H3 by developing and manufacturing the liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen turbo pumps for the LE-9 and LE-5B-3 engines. Additionally, IHI Aerospace was responsible for the solid rocket booster (SRB-3), which was essential for the launch. 🏫 IHI Holds an Outreach Lecture on Ammonia at a School Near Toyosu Headquarters 🏫   IHI employees conducted an outreach lecture at Ariake Nishi Gakuen in Koto Ward, Tokyo, conducting experiments with ammonia with 164 sixth grade students.   We developed the curriculum, and dispatched their employees as instructors.
