🌼 Art Meets Nature at Seaport West 🌿 Thank you, Boston Globe Media and art critic, Cait McQuaid, for featuring artist Carly Glovinski in your art column, Working Artist. It's online now and will be featured in the Boston Sunday Globe on 8/10. Carly's purpose and process integrating her passion for art and gardening is on full display on Pembroke's Commonwealth Pier campus, and we're delighted and dazzled. Carly has unveiled Opelske in full bloom, a stunning three-story glass mosaic installation at Seaport West. ✨ What a joy it was to welcome our friends from Union Square Hospitality Group to explore their stunning new spaces for Ci Siamo and Daily Provisions at Commonwealth Pier in the Seaport!   With the grand opening of Daily Provisions in Harvard Square, it was a treat to have Ally Eiseman (Langston) and Rachel Kornafel in town. It was clear from attending this soiree that Union Square Hospitality Group will be a great addition to Commonwealth Pier—thoughtful customer service, creative and diverse menus and playful giveaways for guests—all ways to elevate the everyday. 📍 Pembroke Expands Residential Portfolio in Munich We’re excited to announce the acquisition of Alramstrasse 14, a 16,500 sqm Build-to-Rent (BTR) development in southwest Munich—just under 4 km from our iconic Maximilianhöfe in the city centre. This marks our 4th acquisition in 18 months, reinforcing our global diversification strategy across residential, mixed-use, and office properties in leading cities. In partnership with Ehret+Klein AG and in collaboration with local stakeholders, we’re transforming this former vacant lot into a vibrant residential community. Originally planned to become luxury condominiums, Pembroke will transform this site into much-needed rental apartments—enhancing housing supply in the Munich metro area. We’re also thrilled to welcome popular grocery, REWE, back to the neighborhood as part of this development! With this project, Pembroke now operates 520 rental apartments globally, with 376 more in development across Munich and Melbourne. I am thrilled to announce Opelske, my public artwork now on view in the Boston Seaport! This 3-story pressed flower mosaic and urban pollinator garden on the west stair of Commonwealth Pier connects the park above to the harbor below, creating passage of glass tile and a terraced garden of native plantings. The commissioned work is part of a Pembroke  initiative to incorporate contemporary art into thoughtful placemaking at Commonwealth Pier that can be enjoyed by all (including our trusted pollinators!)   The work brings together my long-explored interests in materials and process with the parallels I see between a studio art practice and tending a garden- each a continuous act of nurturing. For the first time in a work, I got to wear BOTH hats- Artist and Gardener.   The title of the work is borrowed from Celia Thaxter’s An Island Garden(1894), which follows a year of her caring for her cherished garden. In it, there is this passage, “The Norwegians have a pretty and significant word, “Opelske,” which they use in speaking of the care of flowers. It means literally “loving up” or cherishing them into health and vigor”.   The imagery in Opelske began as real flowers from Wild Knoll Foundation Garden at Surf Point, that were pressed and made into paintings. (Many of the original paintings are a part of my work, Almanac, on view at MASS MoCA) Then, with the help of the amazing team at Artaic - Innovative Mosaic, we translated them into 100s of thousands of glass tiles using their unique design and fabrication process. The tile magicians from National Tile installed with exacting detail and expert craftsmanship. For the native plantings, I got to partner with Jordan and Lacey at The Trustees of Reservations City Natives.   Truly a dream project. My first public artwork, and my second garden by the sea! I am delighted to share that I recently planned and hosted my building's annual summer happy hour event in Eastport Park for the tenants at Commonwealth Pier! This picnic-themed event featured delicious food and beverages, vibrant live music, a fresh produce market, and live fashion sketching. The hard work and planning resulted in an exceptional experience that embodied our brand's values and vision. It was particularly rewarding to create a space where our wonderful Commonwealth Pier community could connect in such a meaningful setting. Special thanks to Caroline Mowatt who helped bring this event to life! I'm excited to share what's next for events with JLL at our Pembroke Boston Properties!

👏 As the Hasten 21 project nears the finish line, we’re taking a closer look at this ambitious development clad in natural #stone, #terracotta, and #aluminium. This project presented unique challenges from the very start, each calling for tailored technical solutions: 📌 Massive stone cladding: Achieving a bold visual appearance meant minimizing joint sizes between the stones. We addressed this by using solid stone pieces, which delivered the desired look, but increased element weight up to 3.9 tonnes adding complexity to production and installation - challenges the project team handled successfully. 📌 Large-scale glazing: To maximize daylight and visual transparency for retail area, we used exceptionally large glass units - some reaching up to 17.5 m² and weighing around 1500 kg. 📌 Curved elements: Each façade type included rounded corners, resulting in bent glazing, stone clad, and substructures – each requiring high precision and coordination. 📌 Terracotta cladding: The residential façade demanded equally high accuracy. Tight joint control and precise alignment were essential to maintain the intended visual effect. This project is a strong example of what can be achieved through close collaboration and a shared commitment to quality.
