Riihimäki (literally "Dryin barn hill" in Scots) is a toun an municipality in the sooth o Finland, aboot 69 kilometre (43 mi) north o Helsinki an 109 km (68 mi) sootheast o Tampere. It is somewha o a railwey junction, syne the railway tracks goin frae different pairts o the naition tae Helsinki merge thare. Sako, Ltd. haes a major factory in Riihimäki.
The toun is locatit in the Tavastie Proper region. The toun haes a population o 28,350 (28 Februar 2023)[2] an covers an area o 125.56 square kilometre (48.48 sq mi) o which 4.54 km2 (1.75 sq mi) is watter.[1] The population densitie is 234.26 inhabitants per square kilometre (606.7/sq mi). The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
History

It became the first junction in Finland when the Riihimäki – Saint Petersburg track's first section frae Riihimäki tae Lahti wis opened in 1869.
