Where and how to publish null / neutral results?


This “match-making” tool helps you to identify alternate ways of publishing information from well-designed experiments that is often difficult to publish in traditional journals (i.e. null or neutral results, datasets, etc.). Choose the criteria that are most relevant to you, or choose the scenario that best reflects your situation. The tool will highlight the most suitable options.

fiddle highlights platforms that publish research in many fields. The creators of fiddle cannot perform comprehensive assessments of all field-specific resources. Researchers who are looking for field-specific data repositories are encouraged to consult curated lists of field-specific repositories maintained by other organizations (re3data, fairsharing.org, or Nature’s list).

*Criteria: In either the aim & scope, editorial criteria or guide for authors section of the journal website, the journal must have explicit language stating that the journal welcomes or accepts manuscripts containing negative, null, or inconclusive results. The creators of fiddle can only assess what it posted on the journal website - they cannot determine whether editors and reviewers follow these policies in practice. The journals listed here publish research on many different topics; the creators of fiddle cannot perform comprehensive assessments of all field-specific journals.
