Eurostat Electricity prices for household consumers Highest electricity prices in Germany and Ireland For household consumers in the EU (defined for the purpose of this article as medium-sized consumers with an annual consumption between 2 500 Kilowatt hours (KWh) and 5 000 KWh), electricity prices in the first half of 2024 were highest in Germany (€0.3951 per KWh), Ireland (€0.3736 per KWh), Denmark (€0.37078 per KWh) and Czechia (€0.3381 per KWh). Figure 1. The lowest prices were observed in Hungary (€0.1094 per KWh), Bulgaria (€0.1187 per KWh) and Malta (€0.1256 per KWh). For German household consumers, the per KWh cost was 37% above the EU average price, whereas households in Hungary, Bulgaria and Malta paid less than half the price than the EU average. The Company Support Every University Student Deserves During Their Internship 🌟 An internship should be mutually beneficial, offering not just a platform for students to give their best, but also a space for them to gain actual knowledge and skills. At Naturtex, I have the opportunity to dive deep into different departments, exploring various fields of the business as long as I show curiosity and effort. Naturtex's internship program is a winner for me because it genuinely invests in the growth of its interns. From day one, I was given responsibilities in procurement, logistics, and marketing, ensuring that my work added real value to the company while enhancing my professional development. What I strive for as an intern and recommend for future interns: 🤔 Be Curious: Always ask questions and seek to understand how things work, especially when you are in doubt. This curiosity helped me grasp the complex production processes and integrated software systems. 🚀 Show Initiative: Don’t wait to be told what to do—look for ways to contribute. When I had free time, I often approached my supervisor or colleagues to offer my assistance, and this is how I got to work in different departments and with different people on various tasks. 🌈 Be Adaptable: Embrace new tasks and challenges with a positive attitude. Don't freak out! (my mantra during the first weeks) During my internship, I encountered many tasks that were new and outside of my comfort zone. Remember, you are there to learn. Embrace these challenges with an open attitude, because you’ll have to complete the tasks either way, so why not do it with enthusiasm and a positive mindset? 🗣️ Communicate Effectively: Keep open lines of communication with your supervisor and colleagues. When I completed tasks, I always reported back to my supervisors. If I needed help or advice, I approached my colleagues kindly for support, ensuring smooth collaboration and progress. 📝 Seek Feedback: Regularly ask for feedback and act on it to improve. Midway through my internship, I also collected anonymous feedback from my supervisor and colleagues to not only receive advice but also implement the suggestions. I am grateful for the support and mentorship at Naturtex, which empowers me to contribute meaningfully and grow within a supportive environment. As a board member, I am advocating for a better customer experience, international collaboration, and learning from developed innovation ecosystems. I am more than happy to see fruitful results in these areas. 💡 Funding Innovation ✅ €42 million in EU program funds disbursed to businesses. ✅ Launched 6 funding calls totaling €153.4 million. ✅ The SME call "Non-technological Innovation" led the way with 431 projects received. 🔧 Innovative Product Development ✅ 12 funding calls for innovative product development. ✅ The largest funding instrument, aimed at promoting enterprise innovation activities, allocated €820,000 to 45 companies. 🌐 Driving Internationalization ✅ Collaborations range from defense innovations with NATO and the Lithuanian Armed Forces to fostering international links at major exhibitions in fields like optics, photonics, communication technologies, industry, engineering, biotechnology, and fintech. 📈 Client Satisfaction 👏Over 3,000 business consultations were provided. 👏Clients rated Innovation Agency services an impressive 4.7 out of 5. Mplus expands into the agri-food sector, facilitated by a partnership with Slovenian industry giant Skupina Panvita. The value of the transaction, which includes an investment in Panvita Group, amounts to EUR 50 million. Panvita Group is one of the most prominent Slovenian agricultural and food market actors dedicated to the sustainable production of high-quality food, leading vertically integrated chains of agricultural companies; it employs over 700 people and cultivates more than 3,500 hectares of agricultural land. For the financial year 2022, Panvita Group reported over EUR 117 million in revenues and EBITDA of more than EUR 10,3 million. This collaboration exemplifies a broader trend of tech companies extending their influence into diverse sectors, as Poslovni dnevnik highlighted. It will strengthen Panvita’s market position and prime us for potential acquisitions in the Adriatic and DACH regions as Mplus actively explores opportunities that complement Panvita's business model. For our decision to join Panvita it was important to learn that Panivta is Slovenia's first company to be a signatory to the obligations defined by the European Union (EU) Code of Conduct on responsible food business and marketing practices by the guidelines for healthy and sustainable nutrition. With an advanced quality management system, Panvita ensures the standardized quality of fruits and vegetables with high nutritional value. Its precise production of cereals such as wheat, barley, and rapeseed results in less pressure on the soil. Zadovoljstvo nam je da vas obavestimo da je u okviru projekta UniCorn publikovan prvi naučni rad u časopisu Journal of Food Composition and Analysis. Rad nosi naslov "Jednostavna i brza HPLC metoda za određivanje sastava fruktooligosaharida i ksilooligosaharida dobijenih enzimima filamentoznih gljiva". U ovom radu predstavljena je prilagođena HPLC-RID metoda za detekciju dve klase prebiotika: fruktooligosaharida i ksilooligosaharida. Metoda je validirana prema međunarodnim standardima i pokazuje visoku preciznost, tačnost i specifičnost. Analiza je uspešno primenjena na uzorcima hrane, čak i onima sa kompleksnim matricama. Ovo je značajan napredak za naš projekat i istraživanja u oblasti prebiotika. Zahvaljujemo se svim saradnicima na doprinosu. The paper is titled "A Simple and Fast HPLC Method for Determining the Composition of Fructooligosaccharides and Xylooligosaccharides Obtained by Fungal Enzymes". This paper presents a tailored HPLC-RID method for the detection of two classes of prebiotics: fructooligosaccharides and xylooligosaccharides. The method is validated according to international standards and demonstrates high precision, accuracy, and specificity. The analysis was successfully applied to food samples, even those with complex matrices. This is a significant advancement for our project and research in the field of prebiotics.
