Right next to the road, a railway line, far behind the gas station, a factory. From time to time, a single car passes, even less often, one of them stops at the gas station.Leaning against a gas pump, he enjoys the last rays of sun of the short winter day; in his office, he speaks into a tape recorder. A football match is broadcast on television. Sometimes, he goes to the back of the garage and talks to the Italian mechanic. A young woman gets out of her friend's car and asks the gas attendant if she's heading towards the nearest train station. In the night, she returns. Her boyfriend also comes back to the gas station. But she doesn't want to go with him, she wants adventure, the gas attendant. As if he were one of those tough guys in American gangster movies, the gas attendant overwhelms the friend. He then locks him, tied up, in a car in the garage and puts the television in front of his head; since the program is over, the prisoner has to watch a flickering image. Later, the young woman and the gas attendant watch a night train stop opposite the gas station, illuminated by the headlights of the parked cars, then sing together -- as if they had just stepped out of a Vincente Minnelli film. The next morning, they leave in a Volvo. They don't pay at a highway gas station. That's why they are followed by a camera crew from the television show "L'Oeil ouvert" (The Open Eye). The young woman caresses the shaving foam on the windows. The Italian mechanic sees the pursuit on.. See less
