The oak has a protector, elf Morlo, who blames Nils, as representative of humanity, for all the pollution, and orders him to clean the countless leaves. That proves impossible, but Nils finds out whole branches are dying because of spilled petroleum. He gets the flock to help him fix the leaking barrels, so the trees can recover.
