My parents, militants of the MIR party, were shot dead in a military ambush just outside my kindergarten when they were coming to get me. I remained underground and soon after went into exile. I grew up under a different name and only had two pictures of my parents. I have always kept those pictures with me, wherever I went, whatever my name was, and whatever the nationality my passport indicated. The Chilean justice system recognized me as the son of my parents, now I want to know what those names actually mean. Back in Chile, once again a country with a consolidated democracy, but I remain a person with two different identities.
