He has found syringes and medication on a slope and suspects that a drug addict is living there. On the scene, Staller not only finds drug paraphernalia, but also the body of family doctor Dr. Quirin Meyer. At first, everything looks like a hiking accident, but what's disconcerting is not only Meyer's black eye, but also the fact that the experienced mountaineer was wearing slippery leather soles. And why did he have his medical bag with him in the mountains? Was Quirin Meyer lured into the mountains by a patient and then murdered in cold blood? The receptionist, Gabriela Stein, hands Hubert and Staller a list of the names of all the patients Dr. Meyer regularly visits on weekends. But no one claims to have seen the doctor. At a remote mountain hut, Hubert and Staller meet the portrait painter Herbert Stein. The grumpy Bavarian was the victim's best friend and had been visited by Meyer at his hut on the day of the crime. Is it really true that the doctor descended back into the valley after his visit? It turns out that the receptionist is Stein's wife. When Dr. Anja Licht finds tiny particles of oil paint on the dead man's black eye, it's clear that Herbert Stein gave his friend the black eye. Out of revenge, because Gabriela Stein had an affair with Dr. Meyer. Hubert and Staller immediately present the painter to Girwidz as a potential culprit - which the boss doesn't like at all, as he's just having Girwidz paint his portrait for his ancestral gallery. When the two investigators hint that Girwidz looks quite old in the portrait, Girwidz wants to have his portrait retouched before Herbert Stein is arrested. At the same time, Sonja and Riedl are searching for the missing Rosemarie Valant, an elderly woman suffering from dementia who was also on Dr. Meyer's patient list. A strange coincidence? A patient disappears without a trace, the attending physician dies... are the two cases perhaps more closely connected than previously thought? Written by ARD Das Erste See less
