Marian is impressed with Sue's home and what appears to be a perfect marriage. Marian tells her not to let go of it. Marian brings up the odd woman (Lena) that stopped by the Welfare office the other day and vanished. Sue obviously upset about it changes the subject. Dan arrives home and Sue asks Marian not to mention the other day. Dan again brings up the thought of adopting and Susan is a little kinder about the idea. Irene and Liz have a long talk about the situation with Matt and Empire. Liz begins to understand Irene. Matt also arrives home and says he is giving his resignation and Irene asks Matt if that is so wise. Irene points out a few things and is impressed with what Irene has to say and realizes she makes perfect sense. We see Lena Karr Gilroy keeping residence at a seedy motel called the Bigham Arms with her new husband slimy Roy Gilroy (Harry Millard). Roy is not impressed that Lena only got $150.00 out of Susan.
