Children and adults work in an extreme conditions,they don't have proper equipment so they use mercury to find gold. This cause huge risk to the workers health, brings disease but also allows for growth of prostitution. However Mama Sissoko is not interested in finding gold or that kind of life. She is constantly fighting against people who don't care about health issues, she tries to keep some control over the sanitary standards of the village. When she is not trying to improve workers safety conditions and their health, she takes care of growths herbs and help prostitutes with their health issues. She is alone, one soul against all.
