Robinson is widely known for his cinematic roles at the turn of the century, most notably tap dancing on the stairs with Shirley Temple, but in modern times his lack of activism has been questioned and for some, his name has become synonymous with blind apathy in the face of oppression. Featuring the voices of elders, dancers and artists who have all challenged the stereotypes and images of Black bodies on screen in their respective works, this short documentary paints a portrait of an artist trying to create while reconciling his art with the minstrel legacy that surrounds it.
