Juan and Mari Carmen grew up there, in the shadow of the Iparla massif that marks the border with France. There they also met and fell in love; of their wedding they keep a wonderful memory and a photograph, of the little they were able to save from the fire that destroyed their cabin in 1988. It was also there that they had their three children, two of whom are still living there. They did not have electricity until 2006, always insufficient to turn on the milking machine, and although they have a landline telephone, they lack mobile coverage. So when son Joxe Mari travels 13 kilometers every two days along a winding track to take the jugs of sheep's milk he gets by hand with his brother Antonio to the milkman, he takes the opportunity to check his phone for incoming messages and calls. This year, Juan and Mari Carmen are celebrating nothing less than their diamond wedding anniversary. Written by
