He decided to correspond with Sigmund Freud on the subject of avoiding war. In his letter, Einstein emphasized the importance of establishing an independent judicial body to mediate conflicts. Freud agreed but expressed skepticism, noting that "it is unlikely we will be able to suppress humanity's aggressive tendencies". Even today, this exchange between two of history's greatest minds remains as relevant as ever. Inspired by their correspondence nearly a century ago, the film Why War explores the roots of war and sets out to understand the causes of violence and the numerous conflicts that continue to shape our world.
