These 'tories were passed from generation to generation in an oral tradition. Originally they were often stories about mythical and supernatural themes but many evolved to stories of rebellion. The main character Anansi the spider is a mischievous hero that uses his wits to rebel against 'Tiger' and 'King'. The stories have many forms and many iterations. But this animated series focuses on the versions as told by the people from African descent that live and have lived in Surinam and the Antilles. See less
