It was the successor to the time slot that had aired the "Hissatsu" series ("Hissatsu Shigotonin") and was often considered a derivative work due to the similarity in content. However, the show had unique characters that fully utilized the personalities of Yamaguchi, Watase, and Kaneko, especially the killing techniques of Moshioemon played by Kaneko, which left the viewers speechless. The show also had well-developed villain guest characters and deserved more recognition. At the time when kung fu was booming, the martial artist Lin Taikou, who is still active as a martial arts practitioner, delivered authentic karate and nunchaku performances as Genta, an informant.
