He immediately calls his friend to try to buy his way into a deal with a mob boss. Ann contacts her lawyer to drew up a new will with the charges but before she can go to his office to finalize the procedure, she is informed that she was misdiagnosed. She doesn't have lung cancer but a rare form of pneumonia that mimics cancer. She informs her husband of the good news, but he's reaction isn't overwhelming. Tom has already commented to the deal and without the money from the will, he will have to deal with the mob. He needs to get the money. Tom advised her against it, since the lawyer wouldn't know all the details. Tom feels trapped and decides to smother his wife in her sleep and make it look like her lungs gave out from the pneumonia. The next morning Tom gets a call from Ann's lawyer informing him that Ann never came in to sign the new will. So, the new will is involved and Tom will get no money. However, the lawyer did advise Ann to give Tom the money for the deal.
