DiMarco, who has been acting for years, said he is still shocked that he got the role. DiMarco said once the shock wore off, he was curious to find out who would be playing his family. When he learned he would be working side-by-side with F. Murray Abraham (who is playing his grandfather) and Michael Imperioli (who is playing his dad), he said he started to get nervous. Abraham and Imperioli are legends in the industry, and DiMarco knew he wanted to work with them and learn from them. DiMarco said it was easy as they all began to get to know each other on set while working in Sicily. DiMarco also talks about working with Hayley Lu Richardson (who plays an unrequited love interest/friend he meets while on vacation) and the very intimate sex scenes that were required of him for the season.
