His signal for calling upon Nancy has been the bugle ...See moreEhrman Wolfshon, a serious-minded young farmer, who lives in the neighborhood of a South African military post, falls in love with Nancy O'Farrell, daughter of the Colonel in command. His signal for calling upon Nancy has been the bugle call, announcing drill at the neighboring post. Some of his soldier friends decide to play a practical joke. Taking some articles of Nancy's clothing, they prepare them in such a manner that when Ehrman discovers the same he thinks she has been slaughtered by some wild animal, many of which are to be found in the neighborhood. The mind of the young lover is overwhelmed by the awfulness of his discovery. Nancy restores his sanity by arranging that he shall hear again the well-known bugle call.
