The daughter has her weekly wash to attend to and has just placed a kettleful of water on the stove to heat. Her lover enters and soiled clothes and kettle are alike forgotten until the return of mamma, who wishes to see what progress the wash is making. The girl hides lover in washtub and covers him with clothes. The old lady, disappointed at finding how little is done, proceeds to demonstrate her energy by pouring boiling water over clothes and lover as well.
