But Vernon uses his electric iron and cooks when he pleases if he has his door locked. All pressed up, and fed, he starts to get ready for work. Just then a card is slipped under the door telling him of a bargain offer to have his picture taken at a photographer's studio. He rushes to the bath room to shave. Several other boarders in the same house also get similar cards, and they, too, rush to the bath room to spruce up for their pictures. Vernon is having his troubles trying to shave, what with the lights going off and on, the mirror falling down, and people knocking on the door. He finally is forced to let others in, and another boarder, even heavier than he is, also attempts to shave before the same mirror. The battle between these two and a little fellow waxes warm, and finally winds up in a pitched fight in the bath room. Shaving cream flies through the air, and Vernon is spilled into the tub where, at last, in peace he is able to shave. Written by
