Mr. Chilfoot and his wife lived across the hall, and were invited over. Mrs. Chilfoot became jealous of the Newlyweds' fine statuary and dashed a couple of pieces to smithereens. Reggie became peeved and told them what he thought of them. This hurt Gertie's pride so Reggie brought her a necklace as a peace offering. Gertie was foolish enough to show it to Mr. Chilfoot, who was admiring it around Gertie's neck when Mrs. Chilfoot happened along. The situation was peculiar for a good married man to be in, and in trying to hide the necklace from Mrs. Chilfoot's gaze he did the wrong thing, for she knew something was up, and like all women she wanted to see. Mr. Chilfoot reluctantly showed the beautiful necklace and Mrs. Chilfoot, thinking it belonged to him, appropriated it herself. This left Gertie in a peculiar position. Determined to get it back, in the dead of night she entered the Chilfoot apartments. Mrs. Chilfoot awakened at a very inopportune moment and upset all the plans. Police were summoned and a general fight and chase ensued. Gertie was only relieved from her terrible nightmare by having dear hubby tap her gently on the shoulder and take her in his strong manly arms to reassure her that it was all a terrible dream.
