He is horribly frightened at the idea, but does not feel he can evade the responsibility. Marcia arrives, a delightful bit of femininity. She starts to make John's house look neat and clean and bosses the willing serving man. Harold Runyon, John's good-looking nephew, is in the clutches of an adventuress, "The Wasp," who, at the instigation of her companion. D'Armand, manages to bleed him of considerable sums of money. Harold gets very hard up and decides to try and get a loan from John. He calls and sees Marcia and is soon in love with her. While John and Marcia are absent, Harold is tempted to forge a check on John, but the latter finds him writing and prevents the crime. John sees a picture of the Wasp and urges Harold to give her up, and Harold leaves after some high words. John, believing that Marcia loves Harold, goes to the Wasp and writes her a check to leave Harold alone. The latter comes and sees them together and puts a wrong construction on their meeting. He denounces them both. Six months pass and Marcia cannot understand John's attitude toward her. He loves her, but believes she favors Harold, The latter calls and proposes to her and learns that she loves John and not him. He leads her to John, and leaves them together and John learns that he is the chosen one. Written by
