Fatty is a local character and he is often seen in the company of Lucile Henry, the village beauty. A classy stranger arrives in town, sees Lucile with Fatty and is struck with her beauty. He writes on an envelope, as if it were addressed to himself, "Lord Fuzzywuz," and purposely drops the envelope. They pick it up and think he must be some foreign nobleman. He strikes up a flirtation with Lucile and she drops Fatty and takes up with the flashy and distinguished gentleman. Fatty looks up his old friend Zeb for advice, and Zeb tells him that the only way to get even with this fellow is to challenge him to a duel with pistols, because the foreigners will not deign to fight with their fists. "Too common, don't you know." Fatly thinks over the idea, likes it, and as a consequence, the duel is arranged and accepted by both parties. The morning of the duel arrives. Lucile is to give the signal by dropping a handkerchief. In the meantime Zeb has looked up an old friend of his and they decide, not to hurt the feelings of either contestant, that the duel should be fought with blank cartridges, instead of bullets. Fatty and the "nobleman" know nothing of the blanks, thinking the pistols contain real bullets. In the meantime, Zeb and his friend purchase at the country store, two very antique eggs. Then Zeb and his friend, who are to act as seconds to Fatty and the count, go to the dueling grounds and join their principals. Lucile gives the signal by dropping the handkerchief. Fatty and the count pull triggers. Zeb and his friend, simultaneously throw the eggs. The finish may be imagined. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
