Ruth is in love with Fleetwood Blair, a promising young man, and her love is reciprocated, but Estelle Kendrick, a friend of Ruth's, is also fond of the young man. They announce their engagement to Mrs. Winthrop, but she is beside herself with rage and orders young Blair from the house. Mrs. Winthrop then sends a note to Fleetwood telling him that Kendrick will offer him a large salary to travel for his firm. She urges her fiancé to accept the offer, and he does. Kendrick, with a clear field, finally marries Ruth and makes her life miserable. She, in turn, proves most extravagant, and Kendrick tells her that her promiscuous purchases must cease. In time Blair returns from his trip and goes to Ruth. But he learns that she has wedded Kendrick and is broken hearted. Kendrick is in the midst of a big deal in copper and Ruth tells his secrets to a rival firm, these people using the information to bring about his ruin. Later in the day Ruth asks Blair to come to her home and there they learn of the forged letter that Mrs. Winthrop sent to the young man. Kendrick returns home, a beaten man, while Fleetwood is in the house, and a violent altercation follows. He is armed, and before help arrives fires at his wife and her sweetheart. When the smoke clears away two bodies lie stretched out on the floor dead. "Who's Guilty?" Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
