An artist named Alice replies, and a friendship develops between the two women. It throws Zelda off balance, as she must sort out what it is that's missing from her life. The friendship also threatens Tom, who goes to see Alice. In response, she puts some distance between herself and Zelda. Zelda persists, and then it's Alice's turn to be out of balance.
