Temple refuses to negotiate with them. Burnes, the tramp, weak from hunger, falls exhausted in front of Temple's home, and is cared for by Mrs. Temple. Alvarez and his gang overpower Temple in his office and leave to blow up the mine. Burnes finds Temple bound and frees him. Temple's little girl has wandered away in search of her dog. Alvarez encounters the child and decides to kidnap her, but the dog saves the child. Temple telephones for the sheriff, who arrives just in time to capture the outlaws.
