In revenge the two Mexicans plan to kill the American officer, and the dancer, in gratitude (now grown into love through constant association), plans to save him. Going to the officer's room in the barracks, getting there only a shade ahead of the assassins, she finds the room empty, and hides behind a curtain, immediately after which the officer comes in and sits at his desk. At the same moment the hand of one of the Mexicans appears on the sill ready to fire at the officer, but before his finger can press the trigger the dancer plunges her knife into his hand, pinioning it to the window. His cries of pain and the report of the gun going off bring the officer and his men to the window and the attempt on his life is discovered and the assassins taken away to a cell. The fainting of the dancer behind the curtain brings the realization to the officer of her work in his behalf and they find happiness in each other's arms. Written by
