Karen Silkwood’s death 50 years ago this November continues to haunt Oklahoma and the nation. The 28-year-old plutonium plant worker died in a fatal crash while driving to meet a reporter with The New York Times allegedly to deliver evidence documenting unsafe conditions at the plant. Two reporters who covered the Silkwood story in 1974 have spent years trying to piece together what many in Oklahoma speculate: Karen Silkwood may have died for what she knew. Fifty years later, hear newly-discovered investigative tapes, deathbed conversations and long-awaited interviews reexamining what happened that night.

Great information and investigation. So glad you tapped Richard Rashke. He’s a top flight researcher/writer and expert on many subjects. Nice to hear his voice and know he’s still going strong.
More questions.

Who were the three men who checked out Karen’s car for radio activity after the crash and what did they take from her car? Didn’t they have to sign for that materiel? Wouldn’t the police have records of what they took?
well presented but....

...in the end there is nothing. No conclusion, a whole lot of lead-up but no answers. Feel a bit disappointed. If there is nothing to conclude then why make a pod? Frustrating.
Great job!

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. I remember seeing the silk Wood movie when I was a kid. I’ve gone through life, wondering what actually happened to Karen Silkwood. I still wonder. But, listening to this podcast gave some good connecting information and some good background information into what was really going on back then. Thank you.
