Clearly filesystems in general can take advantage of this as well considering most filesystems were specifically designed to address hardware based problems. When you can unshackle the chains of hardware you can do things that others can't. On Aug 7, Oliver Zihler & Alina Liburkina will speak about: From EventStorming to Test-Driving Aggregates. Last time, we showed how EventStorming, DDD, and Clean Architecture can help us foster shared mental models between domain experts and developers effectively. This time, we will focus on one main variation of EventStorming, Design-Level EventStorming, to demonstrate how we can effectively employ it during iteration planning to split user stories and derive business rules and aggregates, such that we can then use the EventStorming diagram to directly create test cases for Test-Driven Development. We will then demonstrate how to test-drive an aggregate from no code to existence using TDD in baby-steps. In this coding part of the session, besides iterating on basic TDD tools like the rule of 3, fake it, obvious implementation with transformation priority premise (TPP), triangulation, or ZOMBIES, we will also demonstrate how software design is done in the refactoring phase and show how refactoring tools like “Parallel Change” can effectively, and safely, replace code structures like single with multiple values in baby-steps, without breaking any code, nor breaking tests, in the process. This session focuses on integrating various tools and techniques to effectively develop software from story to implementation within an agile, domain-focused context. When popular Tools force you to learn new Syntaxes, and Developers suffer in silence: 1. Sbt: You know Scala. Good. How about I force you to learn a new language that is not Scala, just so you can build your Scala code. 2. Mongo Query: Well the whole world uses SQL to query, but we promote JSON only. So you have to learn JSON based query language to use my Database. 3. Mongo Compass: Oh you learned JSON based Query? But here's a new IDE tool called Compass. Use it to query MongoDB. But you have to learn another new Syntax to use this IDE. 4. Terraform: We get it, the whole world uses JSON and Yaml. But that's so uncool. Here's a new Syntax to use our configuration. 5. Dockerfile: We are creating a brand new Syntax. It looks like Shell script, and sometimes Python. But you have to learn a totally new Syntax to use Dockerfile. Oh, and we are not totally compatible with Script or Python. Who wins at sucking the most?

With the improvements in logical replication released in PostgreSQL 16, there is an increasing interest in active-active clusters in PostgreSQL. Attendees at PostgreSQL Conference Europe this year packed the conference room for EDB Manager, Solutions Architects Boriss Mejías’s talk on Active-Active PostgreSQL. In this informative session, Boriss drew an insightful comparison between Sparta’s Dual Kingship and PostgreSQL Active-Active. With a few clever jokes mixed in, the audience laughed and learned how the illusion of a transparent active-active cluster is broken when you’re facing the challenges of having multiple writable database nodes. Boriss walked the audience through the possibilities and challenges of a PostgreSQL cluster when multiple writable nodes collaborate to a common goal, and explained how lessons from classical Greek government systems can be applied to these situations.
