[UPDATED: 08/12/2019] Hi Friends, I'm Chloe &quot;Six&quot; Ryan and I have quite a few labels I've attached to myself over my 34+ years in this world. Trans, non-binary, low femme, queer, artist, maker, engineer, designer, etc. The past three years have been the most transformational though. I once thought I wanted to be a UX/UI designer for a big tech company, but I quickly became disillusioned by the tech industry near the end of my 2 year tenure at a startup. While I attempted to find a new job after being fired, I decided to keep myself occupied with maker-like projects, eventually finding skill in creating objects out of concrete that meshed with technology. I never did end up finding a new job, the hustle and failure of each new potential opportunity ate at me while my art and passion for it continued to flourish. I knew this had to be the only way.  In February of 2018 I decided to engage in an experiment. I had a product on Etsy that was doing well, but I needed more sales for it to be sustainable. I had been researching selling on Amazon over the previous year or so, and decided this would be a great opportunity to give it a shot and dove right in. I ended up making a batch of 24 of my Concrete Business Card Holders, which was about what I sold over the previous 6 months on Etsy. I sold out in 11 days on Amazon. This was the birth of my brand: Voidbox Industries - I didn't even have a logo yet. Since then my housing situation has destabilized twice and it's been difficult to keep up with the work I need to do to move Voidbox forward.  In March of 2019 I had to leave my last place and decided to move into my van. It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made and has been key in stabilizing my life and work situation. You may see some #vanlife posts here along with the other things I'm working on.  Basically I'm a compulsive maker/artist/engineer/tinkerer and I want to share the things I make with everyone. I always try to open source as much as I can, because I think it's important that the things I make not be siloed, but hopefully to become a ubiquitous as possible. This page will be about me and my work. Some things here will not be a part of Voidbox... many will.  If you want to know more about Voidbox Industries, our current lineup is at <a href="http://www.vdbx.io">www.vdbx.io</a> and there is also a Voidbox specific Patreon page as my intent is to give others access to the retail and manufacturing resources I'm trying to gather. It is my intent that Voidbox isn't just my work, but a collection of many people's works that commit to open source and ethical manufacturing.
