Each new applicant will be assessed on the eligibility criteria and their potential fit for the program. Enrollment in SSS is limited. Not all students who are eligible will be accepted and may be added to the waiting list. First generation college student (Parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree)

Meet low-income guidelines (federal low-income criterion)

TRiO S.T.A.R.S. JUMPSTART

As an incoming first-year student, you will move in on campus 2 days early to participate in TRiO S.T.A.R.S. (Students Transitioning and Reaching Success)! You will engage in 2 days of mandatory fun in this orientation program as you JumpStart your college experience and meet 25 other freshmen students, enjoy FREE food, and get a JumpStart on your freshman year! Commuters are welcome to join as well!

SSS is a federally regulated and funded program AND income documentation is required for ALL applicants. Parent(s) income information is required for dependent students. Personal information is required for students that ODU determines to be independent.

For income documentation, applicants must submit one of the following:
1. A signed copy of the 1040 tax form (pages 1-2) of the previous year’s tax return
OR
2. A signed written statement indicating income and household size.
