At HWR, we prioritise Health and Safety above all else, which is why we are strong advocates for eliminating distractions while driving. Our latest campaign, "Who's Watching The Road?" targets drivers who use their phones while behind the wheel. Not only is this practice against our company policy, but it is also illegal and extremely dangerous. The facts are clear: distracted driving kills. Behind the 283 fatal crashes* was someone who thought, "It won't happen to me." Then it did. No text message is worth risking your life. Pull over and take five minutes to ensure you get home safely. This is our call to action: Your phone or your life. The choice—and the consequences—are yours. *Statistics from between 2021-2023 #HealthAndSafety #RoadSafety #GetHomeSafe

The holiday break is drawing closer, and that means there will be a massive increase in road traffic. Everything from motorhomes to motorbikes, holiday goers and tourists alike. Here at HWR, we are partnered with Motorsport Legend Greg Murphy who shares in our advocacy for road safety and smarter driving decisions. We feel obligated to bring awareness to what some of our drivers see out there on the roads. This dashcam footage serves as a powerful reminder that making informed decisions out on the road not only keeps you safe but keeps all other road users safe too. These smarter decisions look like: 🔵 No unnecessary passing of long vehicles. 🔵 Don't drink and then drive. 🔵 Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. 🔵 Whatever you're doing - check. And then check again. Remember, we are all one decision away from either making it to our destination or not at all. Smarter decision-making out on the roads will save lives. Happy holidays and stay safe, everyone!

It is with a deep sadness that we at HWR farewell our colleague and friend Wayne "Ox" McEwan following his passing on October 17th after a short illness. It was a true privilege to have had the opportunity to work with Ox over the years, drawing on his deep knowledge of the transport industry and sharing countless laughs along the way. Ox was a true legend in the transport industry, renowned for his larger- than- life personality, extensive expertise in the sector, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved and respected. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Ox’s family, Ann, Shannon and Meredith, Bradley and Kirsten, Kylie and Rei, Karen and all of your families. We know that losing Ox will leave a huge hole in your lives and that you will all miss him dearly. Shona Richardson, Joc and Scott O’Donnell, Anthony Jones and the HWR Family.

Beautiful 25 Esk Street lit up for Red, Black & White Day 2024 🔴⚫⚪ It's great to see a community rally around such an important initiative to support Blair Vining’s Epic Journey and the Southland Charity Hospital. Alongside a collection box in our offices and sporting the mighty red, black and white at work today, the lights are the least we can do #supportinglocal

Congratulations to our Innovation team HWR Hydrogen, a mammoth effort in the dual fuel space in New Zealand this year 🚛🌍 A snippet from the judges: "HWR Hydrogen has demonstrated the value of social procurement across the supply chain. As a supplier, HWR Hydrogen is building strong long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders to develop and deliver a lower carbon dual fuel product that can support the transition to decarbonising heavy transport incrementally. As a buyer, HWR Hydrogen are engaging the services of local experts to develop and evolve the technology to make it available and accessible across New Zealand and combining this with upskilling the existing diesel mechanic workforce."
Winner: HWR Hydrogen – Social Procurement Award at the 2024 New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards. See entry detail here: https://lnkd.in/gVWNnCV8 The Social Procurement Award category is sponsored by BlueFloat Energy and Elemental Group Limited partnership. Winter is here. That means temperatures are dropping, the sun is getting lower in the sky, the sickness is getting around and Jack Frost is making his annual trip down the country. With that in mind, we send out an urgent reminder to make sensible driving decisions when you're out there on the roads. Here is some dashcam footage one of our expert drivers captured from a previous winter. According to the report of this accident, the driver of the van hit black ice and lost control. No matter where you're going - please make sensible decisions while driving on the roads so you can get home safely to your family and friends.
