We’ve signed a 10-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement with PepsiCo, Givaudan – Fragrance & Beauty and Smurfit Westrock linked to a repowering wind farm in Spain. 🤝 By repowering the wind farm with more efficient turbines, renewable electricity output will be increased, while reusing existing grid infrastructure. ✔️ This approach minimises additional environmental impact and accelerates the delivery of new renewable energy to the grid. 👉 “We are proud to collaborate with PepsiCo, Givaudan, and Smurfit WestRock to expand renewable energy capacity in Spain. This agreement shows how companies of varied sizes can work together to help drive meaningful climate impact. We’re delighted to support a coalition that brings additional renewable capacity online while enabling businesses across Europe to decarbonise,” says Hallvard Granheim, EVP Markets. The renewable power generated through this agreement is expected to contribute to an estimated 32,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions reductions per year, and it’s the first renewable electricity cohort in Europe under PepsiCo’s pep+ REnew programme, which helps suppliers, manufacturers, and bottlers transition to renewables. 🙌

  • Safety first, always ✅ Our goal is that everyone should return home safe from work at Statkraft. A safe and healthy work environment is a precondition for us wherever we are in the world, be that working on Norwegian hydropower plant, a Brazilian solar farm or anything in between. And of course, if you don’t get the basics right, you won’t get anything right. 👉 So today we’re going back to health and safety 101 and checking off the standard PPE elements from head to toe (literally). Wishing all our staff and everyone out there a very safe World Day for Safety and Health at Work. 👷♀️👷♂️

🐝 You may not bee-lieve this, but… … the Talayuela II solar farm in Spain is now home to 200 queen beehives. We’re buzzing to see this beautiful pesticide-free apivoltaic project up and running and already beautifully integrating itself into this glorious Extremadura pastureland. Oh yeah, and the project will also produce its own honey, which is sweet. 🍯 💙 And what better time to celebrate these remarkable, life-giving creatures than #EarthDay! But enough from us. Hear from Erica, who visited the site recently.

  • The installation of this big, beautiful blue valve is an engineering first in Norway 🛠️ 💧 This new bypass valve at Lio power plant in Telemark is an environmental measure that ensures stable water flow out of the power plant to the Tokkeåi river even if an outage occurs. Did you know that almost 90% of Norway's electricity comes from hydropower? 💙💧 Every year, around this time, our team takes their snowmobiles out in the Norwegian mountains to measure the snow levels around our hydropower plants. This helps us estimate the amount of water that will flow down the hillsides and into our reservoirs when the snow starts to melt. The information they gather on these chilly tours is crucial for us to plan and manage our operations effectively. Come with us! 🗻
