Our head of investment, Tonje Ørnholt, argues that climate tech is not losing momentum, it has simply become a given. Link to her full take in the comments.

We're launching a new series "On Oslo". In this series will Siw Andersen, our CEO, share her thoughts on what #Oslo needs to succeed globally. Looking further ahead into 2025, there are 3 critical actions that Oslo needs to take: 1️⃣ Bridging the talent gap. Six in ten companies lack skilled workers (NHO). Make "Kompetansespor", a pilot project aimed at reducing visa processing from 37 weeks to just 3 days, a permanent initiative. 2️⃣ Better support for Norwegian startups and investment funds. Funding for Norwegian startups and investment funds is critical—not only to attract new investors but also to retain existing ones. 3️⃣ More focus on Oslo’s opportunities. In 2024, a lot of discussions revolved around the EXIT and wealth tax, gaining international attention. This year, I hope we can also talk more about the opportunities that exist in Oslo and Norway—there is so much potential here, and we need to make sure the world knows it. Read the article on ↘ https://lnkd.in/gFU6D3Mq We invite you to join the conversation. If you have any thoughts or ideas to share with Siw, feel free to reach out. 📩 Contact: [email protected] #Oslo Oslo Business Region Oslo kommune

We attract international talent and investment to Oslo to strengthen the startup and innovation ecosystem... but how did we do that in 2024? In short: Investment: 👩💼 Curated programs for international venture firms in Oslo 🌍 International meeting places and delegations This resulted in 15 top European climate tech VCs, that raised over 20 billion NOK, participating in programs with local investors in Oslo; 500 investment firms engaged through OBR's various events and initiatives; and 90 million NOK in total investment as a result of OBR's initiatives. Talent: 🕸️ Networking and integration of international talent 🧠 Knowledge building 🤝 Welcome initiatives 👫 Spouse/Partner program 🗺️ International talent attraction campaign This resulted in 80 growth companies supported to integrate 216 international employees; 27 ecosystem professionals educated about recruitment trends; over 250 participants attending events under the “Welcome to Oslo” project; 30 spouses and partners of talent gaining professional networks, with 30% of them securing employment; and 1.1 million people reached with the message "find your work-life balance in Oslo". If you want to read more about how we worked on investment and talent, the links to our reviews of 2024 initiatives can be found in the comments! None of this would be possible without the amazing partners we have had on these initiatives throughout the year: Innovasjon Norge, Startuplab, Alliance VC, Sandwater, Skyfall Ventures, ArcTern Ventures, Ferd AS, Oslo kommune, Oslopolitan, Stockholm Business Region, Business Helsinki, Helsinki Partners, Abelia, Rockstart, Amby, TRY Råd, Holly Hastead, Chen Media, Ardoq, Findable, and Glint Solar.
