🌍 Unlocking India’s Carbon Removal Potential at PRAKRITI 2025! 🇮🇳 The remove team was on the ground at PRAKRITI 2025, organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (ऊर्जा दक्षता ब्यूरो) (Ministry of Power) and the Ministry of Environment, with knowledge partners The World Bank and IETA, for the official launch of the Indian Carbon Market (ICM) framework! 🎤 Our Co-founder & Managing Director, Hans Westerhof, joined a panel on financing clean technologies, moderated by Saurabh Kumar, to discuss a key distinction: classic carbon credits vs. carbon dioxide removal (CDR). 💡 Key takeaways from the discussion: 🔹 CDR is not just a challenge—it’s a major economic opportunity for India. 🔹 Biochar & Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) offer agricultural co-benefits—better soil health, improved yields, reduced fertilizer use, and better air quality. 🔹 The higher value of CDR credits can channel capital from the Global North to Indian entrepreneurs and farmers, accelerating innovation and deployment. 🔹 India has strong incentives for innovators and researchers to develop world-leading carbon removal solutions—now is the time to act! We enjoy collaborating with Aparna Sharma, who's leading the efforts on carbon markets at Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW); Alvin Lee, who's leading carbon registry & standards for APAC at Puro.earth and it was good to catch up with Asitava Sen from Carbon Removal India Alliance (CRIA)! 📢 India’s role in carbon removal is just beginning, and we’re here to support its growth. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🚀 👀 Bonus: It was also great to run into Devika Wattal and continue the discussion on decarbonizing the cement industry! 🙌 Swetha Kolluri Sachi Vohra Sparsh Agarwal Madhur Jain Gauraang Biyani Shaurya Sharma Aryaman Mihir Seth Anirudh Keny #CarbonRemoval #CDR #IndianCarbonMarket #PRAKRITI2025 #NetZero #ClimateAction

🌟 𝗖𝗗𝗥 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻t 🌟 Nellie Technologies - one of remove's alumni startups - has secured a multi-year agreement with Zurich Insurance Group to purchase carbon removal certificates (CORCs) verified under the Puro.earth standard. This multi-year, multi tonnage transaction will cover CO2 removals from Nellie’s operations in the UK over the next five years, using cutting-edge technology to create biochar from micro-algae. This marks Zurich Insurance's largest long-term storage carbon removal purchase so far, with Nellie committing to remove up to 17,500 tons of carbon from the atmosphere in this agreement. 💪 👏 Congratulations: Stephen Milburn, Andrew Wilkerson and Ally Sheller and everyone involved!
