What meaning do we assign to images on the internet? And to what extent do we identify with them? In collaboration with online platform The Hmm, Foam presents Metaphormaxxing: A Mapping Game that invites you to explore these questions in relation to gender. Start playing now: metaphormaxxing.com⁠ ⁠ In the offline world, our physical traits generally influence how people perceive us. The online sphere offers more flexibility in how we can express our identity. Photography, emojis, stickers, GIFs, and memes have become a language of their own, helping us express emotions, ideas and how we see ourselves. Through digital self-expression, we can also share various experiences of gender. Different contributors have created their own map based on a subtheme of their choice, selecting images from their own digital environment. We invite you to play and find where you place yourself. Start exploring the maps of Günseli Yalcinkaya, Sarah Amrani, Alba Zari and The Hmm. Since 2024, he has been the first Palestinian photographer selected to join the renowned photography collective @magnumphotos. In this exhibition, Khader gives a voice to seven young Palestinian men who were violently taken from life, and to their mothers who lost them. Through their stories and experiences, he reflects on farewells in times of occupation, conflict, war, and displacement.
