Lagos State MoU on WtoE falls short on the vision of the National Policy on Solid Waste Management. While the Nigerian National Policy on Solid Waste Management envisioned “an environment that is healthy and safe through implementation of environmentally sound and ethical solid waste management system that will be wealth generation resource and job creation vehicle”. Lagos State Government, universally acclaimed as the centre of excellence signs an *unsound, unsustainable, non-inclusive and non-circular waste-to-energy approach to solid waste management.* Solid waste incineration of this kind is not known to be environmentally sound and friendly even as the said proponent 'Harvest Waste Consortium of Netherland's' past projects are unknown to be sound environmentally in Africa, so ascribing this project as conforming to circular economy is also misleading.
