💌 We’ve always believed that some of the best lessons aren’t taught, they’re shared. And over the years, our community has proven that tenfold. From heartfelt explorations of culture and history to tactical deep dives into breathing techniques, dance, tech, and even football fandom, our Fellow Skill Shares (FSS) have been a window into the minds (and hearts!) of our fellows. Here are just a few unforgettable FSS moments we've loved: 🌍 Outdoor adventures & the charm of nature 💃 The history of Bachata & dance as a cultural force ⚽ A football fan's unapologetic love for Manchester City 🧘 Freediving, breath control & finding peace underwater 🧠 Overthinking with style (aka Clarity Craft!) 🥋 Kick Boxing, discipline, and mental mastery 🤝 The long-term power of community in business & life We see these acts of generosity. Of fellows standing up and saying: “Here’s something I know, something I love, something that’s shaped me. Maybe it will spark something in you too.” So here’s a little love letter to everyone who’s ever hosted, attended, or applauded an FSS. 💛You remind us that community isn’t built with resources,it’s built with people who care enough to share. #DreamVC #FellowSkillShare #CommunityPower #VCisHumanToo #WeAreDreamVC
🎯 "Character is measured in motion, not at rest." - Eghosa Omoigui What does it really take to build and scale a venture fund in #Africa? At Dream VC, we recently hosted an exclusive session for our Investor Accelerator (IA) fellows, a candid and thought-provoking conversation with Eghosa Omoigui (Managing Partner, EchoVC Partners) and Maelis Carraro (Managing Partner, Catalyst Fund). Across 60+ minutes of honest reflections, the discussion tackled hard-earned insights on fund management, including: 🔹 Why “founder-friendly” has become an overused label, and how mutual respect and governance must underpin healthy founder-investor dynamics 🔹 The importance of right-sizing funds for the African market, with $30–40M emerging as the sweet spot for true product-market fit 🔹 Building institutional discipline as a fund evolves, from accelerators to fully-fledged VC funds 🔹 The growing need to rethink exit pathways, especially in markets with limited M&A or IPO activity 🔹 And perhaps most memorably, the reminder that character is measured in motion, not at rest, particularly after the term sheet is signed This panel was part of our ongoing effort to equip emerging investors with frameworks grounded in real operational experience, not just theory. Grateful to Eghosa and Maelis for sharing with such clarity and candor. #DreamVC #InvestorAccelerator #VentureCapital #AfricanVC #EmergingMarkets #FundStrategy #StartupEcosystem #CatalystFund #EchoVC #Founders #Governance
🔢 We just wrapped our onboarding call with the amazing team at Tracxn, and we’re thrilled to continue our relationship with them year after year! For our fellows: Tracxn is a power tool for their venture journey. Throughout the program, they will get hands-on access to Tracxn's platform to help them: 🔻Track and manage deal pipelines during simulated VC projects 🔻Organize outreach and follow-ups during sourcing exercises 🔻Build real-time workflows as you scout, evaluate, and support startups 🤝 Partnerships like this are what keep us buzzing at Dream VC. Whether it’s insights, integrations, or impact - we’re always looking to team up with folks building for founders, investors, or the broader innovation economy. 📩 If you’re a product, platform, or program serving startups and investors across emerging markets, let’s talk. We’d love to explore how we can work together. #dreamvc #partnerships #venturecapital #vc

This week at Dream VC’s #LIVC program, we tried something new, and it was a hit. For the first time, we ran Mock Investment Committees (ICs) featuring real external investors from the industry. Each group picked a company of their choice, crafted a compelling 7-minute pitch, and presented a full investment deck. And this wasn’t just a classroom exercise, it was a realistic, high-pressure simulation, with tough questions, deep feedback, and everything you’d expect in an actual IC room. 🔹 We covered it all: ~Founder aptitude and team dynamics ~Market risks and regulatory hurdles ~Revenue projections ~Right to win and defensibility Some deals got a “yes,” some got a “maybe,” and some… didn’t make the cut. And that’s the point. This simulation gave our fellows a window into how real-world VCs think, and a chance to sharpen their judgment and conviction. We’re excited to keep building on this and make it a staple of our programs moving forward. A huge thank you to the incredible mentors and investors who gave their time, energy, and insight to support the next generation of VC talent: Dayo Koleowo Olivia Gao, Mukami K., Joseph B., Derin Adebayo! 🥂 #dreamvc #venturecapital #venture #IC #investment #africa
“Cold Start Zones.” When we talk about #Africa’s startup landscape, we often overlook the invisible: the missing pipes, power, trust, and tools that make scaling feel like pushing a boulder uphill. In this deep, insightful piece, Adefolajuwon I. breaks down the Activation Temperature Scale (ATS), a framework every founder, funder, and ecosystem builder should bookmark. From frozen zones to friction markets, this is a masterclass in diagnosing real readiness. 📖 Read the full article here and share you thoughts ⬇️
