🌐 How Can Technology Optimize Unique Marina Experiences?
This question was addressed at the 4th Edition of the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous last September, where key industry players shared insights on how technology is shaping the future of marinas, making them smarter, more efficient and safer for everyone.
From smart applications to sustainability and data-driven decision-making, the conference, moderated by Gino Battaglia President of the Italian Yacht Masters Association and event partner, underlined a shared mission: creating innovative marinas that blend innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship. The yachting community is evolving, and technology is at the helm.
🚤 Smart docking & crew apps: Yacht Captain Kelly Gordon (USA) emphasized the importance of a unified platform to simplify marina operations. The goal: to reduce the number of WhatsApp groups and information from different sources, but instead gather all the info together in one smart app that combine useful elements.
🌱 Sustainability at the core: Mar Vera Vives presented the sustainable practices implemented at the Alcudiamar Port & Botel (Spain), she highlighted the use of advanced systems to monitor water quality, optimise water and energy consumption, helping to reduce environmental impact while ensuring transparency and reliability of operations.
📊 Data as the foundation: Randy Durband (South Korea), CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), highlighted the critical need for robust systems to collect data to support innovation: “The greatest need, before any fancy app, it’s better underlined data system”.
⚡ Merging tradition and innovation for optimal service: Stavros Katsikadis (Greece), President of the Greek Marinas Association said: “We respect and understand the Owner or Captain need to monitor the yacht's energy consumption on a daily, hour-by-hour basis. At Flisvos Marina, we combine traditional methods of measuring consumption with digital ways to provide an optimum service. I like to use the Greek word “Aionios” which means eternal in Greek. Everything we do, from design, building to operation, we try to do it forever. That should be a law for all marinas”.
