  • Today, on International Women’s Day, we want to celebrate all Ukrainian women and commemorate their fight for equal rights. From legendary writers, artists and performers to innovators and leaders, Ukrainian women stand at the core of our society. They uphold the harmony and drive our country towards a brighter future. Since 2022, over 67000 women have begun to serve in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They are daughters, mothers, friends, sisters, and wives. They left their ordinary lives to defend our independence so that little girls can one day grow up in a peaceful Ukraine. Ukrainian women not only serve for the sovereignty of Ukraine, but they also fight to show that women are warriors whose bravery cannot go unnoticed. They are medics who save lives, risking their own; they are human rights advocates and volunteers; they are teachers, lawyers, bakers, farmers, caretakers, and people without whom our world wouldn’t go on. Today, remind yourself of all the wonderful women in your life, the sacrifices they’ve made, and the future they stand for. #internationalwomensday Illustration credit: Viktoriia Patapova

  • Beginning in April of 2024, our shelled ambulance from Kharkiv has been touring over 50 Italian cities to raise awareness about russia’s crimes against Ukrainian emergency services. “These expositions of the shelled ambulance were truly important to show the reality of russian aggression - one that does not stop at anything”, says Olena Kim about the importance of this collaborative project. Thanks to the funds raised at these rallies and demonstrations, an ambulance was procured and sent to Ukraine within the framework of our #Ukraineiscalling campaign. It will save countless lives near the frontlines! We are also excited about the 6 ambulances that have joined #Ukraineiscalling through the fundraising efforts of numerous associations and Italian cities. Such cooperation, on an unprecedented level, is a testament to the importance of unity during these difficult times. Ukraine is not only fighting for its independence, it is protecting the democratic future of Europe as a whole 🇺🇦 🇪🇺 🇮🇹 We want to express our deepest gratitude to the following associations & individuals for their commitment to this project: Olena Kim, Odv Mriya, Leleka ODV, La Fenice, Associazione culturale Magica Pysanka, Ukrainski Vechornytsi, NaRyna APS, Асоціація" Допоможемо жити", Porto Emmergenza di Porto Mantovano in collaborazione Malve di Ucraina (Verona), Nadiya Odv Organizzazione di volontariato ucraina di Piacenza, La Memoria Viva, Comunità Ucraini a Torino (CUT), Associazione POKROVA ETS, Associazione "Malva" - ucraini di Ravenna APS, Diaspora Ucraina Mantova, Associazione Italia-Ucraina "Leleka", PeopleforUkraine ODV-ETS, Associazione Amicizia Italia Ucraina, Associazione Cristiana degli Ucraini in Italia, Associazione UAMI, Associazione Ucraina - Firenze "Lilea" Onlus, Associazione comunità ucraina Valdera, Associazione Ucraina nel Cuore, Associazione Svitanok, KOLOS Associazione culturale a Firenze Ucraina-Italia, Soverato Associazione "Regala un sorriso-UKR", Angelo Notaristefano, Gruppo ‘Amici dell’Ucraina’, Associazione Ucraina nel Cuore #Ukraineiscalling #friends_of_lukraine #lukraine_advocacy #LUkraine_shelledambulance_italy

  • Following a new Law on non-profit associations (ASBL) LUkraine is being considered a Large ASBL that also obtained an important status of public interest in 2023. Thus, LUkraine’s annual accounts for that year were audited and approved by the General Assembly and filed with the Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés. Besides compliance with the regulations, nonprofit financial audits have several benefits, such as promoting accountability and defining steps for improvement. Our organisation greatly values transparency to ensure that our supporters feel confident in our compliance and funds allocations. Furthermore, we want to assure you of our commitment to the improvement of operations that allow for the continuation of our nonprofit works. On February 20th, as part of a series of events dedicated to the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion, in cooperation with the European Parliament in Luxembourg and the European Commission in Luxembourg, we opened the photo exhibition and VR Zone at Europa Experience. Unveiled Ukraine. In this conceptual and unique project about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, photographer Kateryna Mostova shares her vision of the war and offers visitors a deeper understanding of Ukrainian reality. The War Up Close Project unveils the details of the genocide against the Ukrainian nation to the global community using 360° panoramic photos, drone footage, and 3D modelling. We were honored to welcome Charles Goerens, Member of the European Parliament and Anne Calteux, Head of the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg for the opening ceremony. « This type of exhibition is a powerful tool of cultural diplomacy that helps us raise awareness about the situation in Ukraine, where Ukrainians have been fighting for our common democratic values and freedom for 11 years. » - said LUkraine’s Vice President Inna Yaremenko.  Special thanks to Kateryna Mostova for her strong project. And thank you to Belle Bandura for decorating the evening with Ukrainian music. Both exhibitions are open at Europa Experience until April 12, 2025. From Monday to Saturday, 10:00 -18:00.  Admission is free, but an ID card or passport is required. #LUkraine_events #EuropaExperience Photos: Roksolana Rybak

Another important event dedicated to the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion was hosted by our team this week. Together with our partners CinEast Festival and with the support of the European Commission in Luxembourg, we organised a screening of the Oscar 2025 nominated documentary film “Porcelain War” by Slava Leontyev. This incredible film shows the beauty and resilience of Ukraine and its people. We had the honour of welcoming Mr Eric Thill, the Minister of Culture, who recalled the importance of arts and the preservation of cultural heritage during the war, as well as the growing cultural ties between Luxembourg and Ukraine. The other guest of honour, Ms Anne Calteux, the Head of the European Commission in Luxembourg, drew attention to EC’s support of Ukraine over the last three years and confirmed that this support will continue until a just peace and our common victory. We are also grateful to all the ambassadors who attended the screening, showing their solidarity and support. And we are happy to announce that we raised over 3,500 EUR for the CinEast4Ukraine charity project during this special screening! And our warmest wishes go to the film's DOP, Andriy Stefanov, who addressed the audience from the screen and spoke about his work on this project and the hope that we all need so much today... Fingers crossed for the Oscars ceremony on March 2! We thank every single one of you for spending an evening in solidarity with Ukraine!💙💛 #PorcelainWar #LUkraine_advocacy #friends_of_LUkraine #LUkraine_events

On February 25, 2025, LUkraine, in partnership with the Embassy of Poland and the European Commission in Luxembourg, organised a conference “Russia’s full-scale armed attack on Ukraine. Three years later. The road ahead”. Among the honoured speakers were: Nicolas Zharov - President of LUkraine Inna Yaremenko - The representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Luxembourg/Vice President of LUkraine Mr. Rafał Hykawy - Charge d'Affaires of Poland Mrs. Anne Calteux - Head of Representation of EU Commission to Luxembourg Ms. Nataliia Anoshyna - Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine HE Mrs. Fleur Thomas - Ambassador of the United Kingdom HE Mrs. Alexandrina-Livia Rusu - Ambassador of Romania HE Mr. Benno Laggner - Ambassador of Switzerland All speakers expressed their vision of the current geopolitical situation, the need to strengthen Europe's positions, making only those decisions that take into account Ukraine's interests, and establishing a just peace for it as the main guarantee of the security system in Europe. Nicolas Zharov emphasized that Europe must grow stronger in terms of security and unity, standing together against ongoing threats. He has called for dialogue with the citizens of the EU and within the transatlantic alliance, urging that we have to stay together to prevent russia from accomplishing its main goals, which is destroying the NATO and weakening the EU. Inna Yaremenko drew attention to the mass deportation of Ukrainian children by the russian federation. She recalled that officially 19,546 Ukrainian children were deported and forcibly displaced by russia. This is a war crime and a crime against humanity. The conference was accompanied by the exhibition of photos by Polish photographer “Eyes of the war” documenting the barbarity of the Russian aggression. Thank you, Phillipe Schockweiler for the excellent moderation. And a huge thank you to Ms. Iwona Wojtczak for supporting and organising such an important event at the highest level. #LUkraine_advocacy
